GHD Design developed a new shared use road space to invigorate a section of Village Street in Docklands Melbourne. Places Victoria engaged GHD Design to prepare concept designs for the pedestrianisation of Village Street in Docklands. This street is strategically located in the Docklands precinct and becomes an entertainment hub during major sporting events. The pedestrianisation of the street will provide the City of Melbourne and local traders the opportunity to create a more flexible is urban space for events and festivals.

For the initial part of the project a series of design options were developed and costed to allow Places Victoria to consult with local traders and the City of Melbourne. A final design was selected and GHD Design prepared the detailed design documentation for the construction of the project. Key disciplines included Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Lighting design. GHD Design worked closely with Places Victoria and the City of Melbourne to gain the relevant approvals for the project and will provide guidance during the construction period.
