Greening the Pipeline Pilot Project
Williams Landing, Victoria

This initiative aims to transform 27km of the heritage listed Main Outfall Sewer channel into a parkland. GHDWoodhead recently completed the MOS (Main Outfall Sewer) parkland project. Great design collaboration between GHDWoodhead’s Landscape Architecture team and GHD’s Water and Structural groups.

This parkland is the first exemplar project for ‘Greening the Pipeline’. This initiative aims to transform 27km of the heritage listed Main Outfall Sewer channel into a parkland. The vision is to create a vibrant space that will connect communities and provide a unique area to meet, play and relax.

Stormwater from local suburbs flows into a storage tank under the park. The stored water is being used to water the landscape. The raingarden in the middle of the park filters out pollutants from the stormwater before it is stored in the underground tank. The project is a partnership between Melbourne Water, Wyndham City Council, VicRoads and City West Water with additional WSUD technical advice and design from Biofilta.
